The two operations below illustrate our method on sale matters. We regularly take over files where other professionals had failed to reveal the true value of a work.
Case study — Modern master
Marc Chagall, L'artiste peignant Les Amoureux (1981), gouache and tempera
A work estimated at €150,000–200,000 at public auction. After taking over the file and structuring the operation through a more suitable sale channel, the work was sold for €320,000 net to our client — above the high estimate and net of sale fees.
Case study — Venetian old master
Jacopo da Valenza (Veneto, c. 1485-1509), Portrait of a young man
Our client had received a private offer of €80,000. We took over the file, conducted in-depth provenance research, and directed the work to the public sale best suited to its nature and market segment. The painting sold for €189,000 — more than double the initial offer and above the high estimate.
