Swann Ronné was born in Caen in 1995. Today, he lives and works in Paris. Initially a student at the Ecole Supérieure d'Arts et Médias de Caen, he obtained his undergraduate degree in 2017. He then moved to the P2F workshop of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris.
In 2018, Swann's work is presented at the selections of the Prix des Amis des Beaux-Arts de Paris, the Prix Juvenars, as well as the International Painting Prize "Novembre à Vitry".
"I like to mix genres, circulate between practices, make worlds communicate, extract a sign from the insignificant. " - Swann Ronné
Swann Ronné's practice mixes heterogeneous elements: coloured forms, undecided lines and figures are all traces that give the pretext to compose a painting without subject. Swann is acting accidentally. He composes his paintings by elimination, and keeps only the essential: resulting in portraits of the void, of what does not exist, of the feeling that remains of it. Many of his works question the appearance of form.
Swann observes and is inspired by the footprints, the marks left by those who walk around him. The artist likes to play with chance and suggestion, which allows him to solicit the viewer's imagination and unconscious.
A true demiurge, Swann Ronné depicts a universe between order and chaos, from which countless plastic signs emerge and sink. In the course of his work, he experiments and questions the essence of painting: what is the relationship between form and content? Are spontaneity and precision in opposition? What is the tension between all-over and composition? The result of this reflection is made up of conflicting spaces, often fragmented; almost "decompositions".
His search for a balance between abstract and figurative allows him to question himself on the perceptions of reality, the imaginary and the beautiful.
