From September 21 to October 19, 2020, Darmo Art will present a series of artworks by Pauline d'Andigné in a dedicated space in the Salvatore Ferragamo flagship store (45 Avenue Montaigne in Paris).
Salvatore Ferragamo has always considered fashion and culture as two inseparable worlds. As early as the 1920s, as a young man living in California, Mr. Ferragamo understood how similar these two worlds were in terms of history, research and creativity. Throughout his career, he never ceased to seek - and to find - inspiration in the works of the most eminent artists of his time, often even collaborating directly with them.
True to the founder's initial intuition, the Salvatore Ferragamo Group recognizes the link between fashion, culture and the arts, increasingly strengthening it in new and important projects, while continuing to devote considerable attention and resources to culture and the arts through sponsorships and international partnerships.
More than a patron, the Salvatore Ferragamo Group is an ally of young artists, ambitious minds and pioneering projects.
In 2019, the company inaugurated the exhibition "Sustainable Thinking" at the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum in Florence, highlighting all of the company's actions dedicated to sustainability, as well as the work of international artists and fashion designers.
The Salvatore Ferragamo Group also sponsors important restorations in Florence, the cradle of the house, such as the renovation of eight rooms in the Uffizi Gallery or, more recently, the restoration of a number of sculptures in the famous Piazza della Signoria as well as the bronze statue of David in Piazzale Michelangelo.
This fall, following the success of the exhibition organized in February 2020, Salvatore Ferragamo has again chosen to work with Darmo Art in Paris for the association of a new event: a solo exhibition of Pauline d'Andigné.
Alexis de Bernède and Marius Jacob-Gismondi, co-founders of Darmo Art, will work closely with the company's teams to create unique environments, combining fashion pieces with works of art.
Pauline d'Andigné (23) is a graduate of the Beaux-Arts de Paris. She also spent a year at the Cooper Union in New York. Recently, she participated in the 69th edition of the ‘Jeune Creation Prize’ organized by the Fiminco Foundation. She is also the winner of the CROUS 2020 prize.
Pauline d'Andigné has been working with Darmo Art since the creation of the Artist Accelerator. Both a creative force and an involved collaborator, she is one of those artists who takes ownership of places and stories to enrich artistic approaches. The astonishing and invasive installations she created for the first two Darmo Art exhibitions (Métamorphoses, 2018; Symbioses, 2019) are perfect evidence of this.
Resolutely linked to the world of fashion, she captures photos of the desirable, the seductive; and uses digital processes, such as cropping and collage to transform the norms of fashion and luxury into intriguing works of art. Although her works carry references to today's standards of beauty, their decomposition creates a new universe from which Pauline tells the raw secrets of perfection.
For this exhibition, Pauline d'Andigné has created a series of works for this new space. Plastic installations, digital works but also wallpapers: the artist has set her ambition to fully inhabit this place of fashion and luxury.
"My installations confront the spectator with the product of a superimposition of images of distinct regimes. Often antithetical, these images harmonize and resonate with each other. Each piece is ambivalent yet remains instinctively intelligible".
